Boston, Massachusetts Houghton Mifflin 1889 Hard Bound Near Fine None as Issued Hard Bound
A small 12 mo volume, clean and near fine, 289 pages. It is the 1889 printing of the book originally published in 1896. With 16 pages. of standard and popular library book advertisements in the rear. TEG. With the most elegant Calligraphy on the Front Free Endpaper in the form of a gift inscription to the Major and Mrs. Theo. (Theodore) Ocherson from the Lieutenant Alfred Reynolds, U.S.A. Christmas 1889. Upon further research we have learned that Lieut. Reynolds was actually promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral in the United States Navy, commanded the Pacific Fleet in 1912-13 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. This is a very rare find and is in extremely nice condition with a small spot of light discoloration to the front cover by the spine, measuring approximately 2" x 3" and being very light in nature. It is still in Near Fine or NF- condition, with solid hinges and a tight spine.
