Welcome to Longfellows Books, one of the oldest open bookstores in the fine city of Portland, Oregon. In the last decade we have been featured as a "Willamette Week" pick of the year and in their 2009 annual Finder issue of the best shops and restaurants in the city and surrounding area. We have also been listed in the "Best Places" series of books for Portland and the Pacific Northwest four times in the last 9 years- we are very proud to announce that we have been selected as one of their favorite/Best Places for the 2010-11 edition. We are very serious about our business and specialize in rare books and magazines, but also have a solid selection of quality literature and the social sciences for those looking for something engaging to read. We are located at 1401 SE Division St. next to Ladd's Addition in beautiful Portland, Oregon.

We are an independent bookstore specializing in quality used books, magazines, sheet music and ephemera, with our areas of expertise being first editions, quality literature, Pacific Northwest History, the classics and social sciences. The store was opened in 1980 in SE Portland, Oregon and has been in its present location for more than 18 years.

For new customers who would like to visit the store in person, we are open afternoons from 1-5 Monday through Saturday. We routinely open early and stay late and occasionally we do have to close earlier than our normal hours (to make it to the post office before it closes, to a doctor's appointment, etc), and once in a while we are closed due to health complications or the like. We are clearly a family owned and run business and hope that you expect to encounter a little character when you visit us. As for the site, we presently have more than 7,000 books online and are shooting to reach 10,000 listed in the future. This is in addition to our collections of collectible sheet music and magazines. Please take your time browsing our stock, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us. We also hope that you feel totally comfortable with the idea of ordering from us. We understand that ordering anything off of the internet can be anxiety inducing, and we all have enough of that to go around these days. We assure you that we take the utmost care when it comes to protecting your information and making sure that our customers are completely satisfied with their orders. We have been selling our books online for more than 7 years via other websites, and opened this online storefront in September 2006, so we have a lot of experience. We have a secure credit card processing service, pack and ship our own books, and are always available to answer any questions you may have regarding the site or our stock.
